KEMPER’S CHAOS RETURNS

Ruthin’s local favourite, THOMAS WILLIAMS of Mold [5’11”, 70kg] returned from injury this month after 3 months recovering from a broken arm. His opponent for his first match back was against the big Heavyweight JOSHUA KEMPER of Leeds [6’7”, 114kg]. Before the match, the Master of Ceremonies, Dafydd Vaughan, checked in on Thomas’ recent arm injury, with Thomas dismissing any concerns and gallantly saying that he was here in Ruthin to compete.

Despite Thomas’ faith, and the adulation of the crowd welcoming Thomas Williams back to Ruthin, it was not an easy fight with the giant Joshua Kemper. The courageous Thomas Williams was not holding back, but it was clear that 6’7” Joshua Kemper was too strong for the 70kg Williams. Coupled with the weakened arm, Victory for Joshua was inevitable.

Joshua Kemper beat Thomas Williams in quick succession with pinfalls in round 1 and 2, winning 2-0. This, however, was not the end to the physicality as Joshua Kemper continued to harm Williams long after the final bell, paying close attention to hurting Thomas’ healing arm with the use of his ceremonial chains.

Other wrestlers were forced to intervene, with “Slim” Jim Brennan leading the charge to restore order. The Master of Ceremonies Dafydd Vaughan declared that to settle this dispute there would be a Tag Team match for the main event that would see Joshua Kemper and Ryan “Ace” go against “Slim” Jim Brennan and his good friend Liam Kendal of Gateshead [5’11”, 82kg].

The Tag Team match in most part was a professional contest. An Issue with Joshua Kemper arose due to his unwillingness to participate in the bout, making it known he didn’t need any help in his fights.

The match was heading in Jim and Liam’s favour with Liam Kendal pinning Ryan “ACE” within 8 minutes. Unfortunately, Joshua Kemper did not see this pinfall as being an accurate reflection of his abilities. He thereafter used his ceremonial chain as impromptu knuckle duster against Liam Kendal, and his own partner Ryan “Ace”, to deliberately end the match in a disqualification yet again. Kemper was immediately banned for one month without pay by officials for using a weapon in this manner.

“Slim” Jim Brennan, who had been courageous in defending his colleagues against Kemper unruly temper, proceeded to challenge Kemper for a “CHAIN MATCH” at the nearest opportunity. The date agreed would be SATURDAY 17TH OF AUGUST.

However, since this night of Wrestling on Saturday June 15th and before this article has gone for publication, Joshua Kemper has been in touch to let officials at Union Wrestling know that he has rejected the premise of the Chain Match on August 17th. Joshua Kemper believes that, and was quoted to say, “Jim Brennan has no right to just demand a match from officials and expect it to be granted. If I do that, I get told no! Just because he’s the golden boy and some old woman who claims to be the Mayor of Ruthin seems to love him, he gets away with murder here. I’m not having it, he needs to do better if he wants to fight me again. And besides, a town like this one doesn't deserve to see such a spectacular match.”

On asking what better “Slim” Jim could do, Joshua Kemper suggested that if Jim wants the Chain Match, then it would be agreed to, only if “Slim” Jim Brennan agrees that if he loses to Joshua Kemper it would result in him being banned from wrestling in Ruthin forever!

“Slim” Jim Brennan will be asked at the next night of Wrestling in Ruthin on Saturday July 20th for his answer whether or not to accept the stipulation Joshua Kemper has made.
